Ban the straw St. Petersburg!

Americans throw away 500 million single-use plastic straws every day. That's enough straws to wrap around the entire earth 2.5 times daily. Nothing we use for 5 minutes should pollute our oceans for hundreds of years.

Thankfully, the tides are already turning. Ikea, SeaWorld, and McDonald's are all getting rid of straws, polystyrene foam, and other single-us plastics. Here in St. Pete, dozens of business owners are already taking an important first step to skip the straw, but without a citywide ban, our oceans and wildlife will continue to suffer.

Our Councilmembers will be discussing regulating plastic straws on Thursday, July 12. They need to hear from you that's it time to ban the straw and to put our oceans and wildlife over our waste!
