FSU alumni, encourage your alma mater to make the 100 percent commitment

Email President Thrasher today to encourage a 100 percent renewable energy commitment at Florida State University.

Climate change is putting our environment, our health and our natural heritage at risk. We need to switch to clean, renewable energy in order to counter the effects of climate change -- and this global transition can start locally.

Tallahassee has committed to transition to 100 percent renewable energy, but we need alumni to tell their alma mater that their school should lead the way on renewable energy.

Dear President Thrasher,

Climate change is a direct result of our society's reliance on coal, oil, and gas. While the Sunshine State continues to receive less than 2 percent of its power from solar, residents are realizing what's at stake in Florida, including FSU students.

On January 15, FSU's Student Government Association passed a resolution asking for a public commitment to 100% renewable energy on campus.

It is great to see the largest employers and energy users on board for an efficient transition regarding the city's commitment to 100 percent renewable energy. Right now, Florida State University has the opportunity to lead the state in a transition to a cleaner, greener future. And as a new member of the Top 20 public universities, FSU has proven it is a leader.

There are many ways to advance the city's commitment but it's clear, action from Florida State University is crucial in creating lasting change in Florida.

As an alumnus, I urge you to make a public commitment to transition to 100 percent renewable energy on campus by the year 2050, to be an active participant in the city's transition, and to lead on clean energy.
